Who we are
i2Type is operated by Sciweavers LLC, USA. This policy covers our international on-screen keyboards and the website around them. Contact admin@sciweavers.org with privacy questions or requests.
You do not need an account, password or subscription to use the keyboards. Visiting a website still involves technical requests, even when you do not enter text.
Information we handle
- Keyboard text: the text you type, paste, edit, copy or export. The keyboard processes this text in your browser.
- Browser-held data: saved drafts and preferences such as appearance, editor formatting and text direction.
- Technical information: hosting systems may record requested URLs, IP addresses, browser information, referral information, request times and errors.
- Correspondence: your email address and the information you choose to send when contacting us.
What happens to your text
The on-screen keyboard maps keys to characters in your browser. Editing, character counts and text or image exports run on your device. The keyboard does not upload the editor text to us for conversion.
For layouts that offer character candidates, your browser downloads public character data as needed. The files requested can depend on an input code or prefix. Those requests can reveal something about a lookup to the hosting system, although the complete editor text is not submitted for conversion.
Copy puts the current text on your device’s clipboard when you choose it. Downloads save a copy through your browser. Other applications, clipboard history, browser extensions and your device settings have their own access and privacy behavior.
Local processing describes the keyboard’s operation. It does not mean that a website visit produces no technical information or that external services share these practices.
The keyboard does not send editor text or saved drafts to us for analytics. Statistics scripts may run on live pages and access page information; local text processing does not mean a visit is free of tracking. Advertising and ad placeholders are currently disabled. If enabled later, Google AdSense ads may appear in designated spaces on live pages. Local previews do not contact advertising providers.
Drafts and preferences on your device
The keyboard saves an editor draft in local storage and keeps a separate draft for the current browser tab. A new tab may start with the latest saved draft; tabs can then keep independent drafts. This is browser storage, not an online account or cloud backup.
Appearance and editor formatting preferences may also remain in this browser. Saved drafts and preferences have no automatic expiry set by the application. They remain until replaced, reset, removed by you or cleared by the browser.
Clear empties the current editor. Undo can restore that text while the page remains open. Clear does not remove other tabs’ drafts, clipboard history, downloaded files or browser history.
To remove browser-held site data, close other i2Type tabs, clear this site’s data in your browser settings, and close or reload remaining pages. See our Cookies & Browser Storage for storage details. We cannot access, recover or delete browser-only drafts for you.
Search, sharing and external links
When you choose an external search or posting destination and press Open, the current text is included in a URL sent to that provider. The destination may open a search, reference lookup or posting composer. Review your text before opening it; the destination’s terms and privacy policy apply.
These URLs may appear in browser history and in records held by the destination. Opening a composer does not itself publish a post; any final posting action belongs to the destination service.
Email links open your email application. A message you send travels through your email provider and is received by us. Links to other i2 websites also lead to separate services with their own privacy information.
Website operation and service providers
We use operational information and correspondence to maintain the website, answer questions, diagnose problems, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. Hosting and email providers handle information needed to deliver those services.
Live pages use Statcounter and Yandex Metrica for traffic statistics. Google AdSense advertising is prepared but currently disabled. If enabled later, ads in designated page areas may help support free access. Google Analytics is prepared but remains disabled until a measurement ID is configured and the service is enabled. Local previews do not load these providers. Yandex Metrica session replay is disabled.
Analytics providers may receive page URLs and titles, referrers, IP addresses, browser and device information, identifiers and page or link interactions. Advertising providers may use technical information and cookies to deliver and measure advertising, prevent fraud and, where enabled, personalize ads. Non-personalized advertising can still involve cookies.
See Statcounter’s Privacy Policy, Yandex’s Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from partner sites and Google’s Privacy Policy for provider practices. Our Cookies & Browser Storage includes provider controls and explains how they differ from local keyboard storage.
We retain correspondence and operational records as needed for their purpose, security and applicable legal requirements. We may disclose information we hold when legally required or necessary to protect people and the service from abuse. A transfer of the service may include information we hold, subject to applicable protections.
Where a legal basis is required, processing relies on providing the service you request, legitimate interests in reliable and secure operation, compliance with legal obligations, or consent where required. Acknowledging this policy does not itself provide consent to unrelated advertising or tracking.
Shared devices and security
Someone with access to your browser profile may be able to see locally saved drafts. Take care when using a shared computer, and clear site data when you finish if you do not want a draft to remain there.
We use technical measures to reduce common website risks. No website, browser storage or transmission method can guarantee complete security.
Sciweavers LLC is based in the United States. Hosting, email and external services may involve processing in other countries. Contact us if you need information about the handling of a specific request.
Privacy questions and requests
Contact admin@sciweavers.org about personal information we hold, such as correspondence or operational records. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correction, deletion or a copy, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent where relevant, or to complain to a supervisory authority.
Explain your request without sending passwords, confidential drafts or unnecessary personal information. Browser-only drafts are controlled through your browser and the keyboard’s controls.
The keyboards do not ask for a child’s name, date of birth or school. Parents and guardians should supervise age-appropriate use and external destinations. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review the situation.
Changes to this policy
We revise this page when our practices change and show the revision date above. Where required, we provide additional notice for material changes. Our Terms of Use explain the conditions for using the service.
